I knew Ramin was Raoul at one point in time in POTO. I was okay with that. I don’t like Raoul. That’s a given fact for any phantom phan most of the time. However, I do love Ramin and that beautiful instrument of his [I specify that it is his voice for you perverts out there]. So I was nonchalantly on YouTube, oh minding my own business, and then I see a video titled “phantom of the opera medley”. These days, if I see a video that’s Phantom related, I will click away at it like I’m possessed. Anyway, I went onto the video and there it is at the bottom, ‘From the performance with John Owen Jones, Katie - I don’t remember her name but here’s the important part - and Ramin Karimloo.’
Cue the phan-girling and hysterical feels.
Of course, after I see his name, I must watch. So I did.
Ramin as Raoul. Ermahgerd.
As I’ve said earlier, I’ve never been a Raoul fan. But it’s Ramin. With him as Raoul, it’s impossible - and I mean that is physically impossible - to hate on him as I usually do. Besides, the voices of the usual people they put to play Raoul have never resonated with me. They always sound like the foppish kinds which, of course, that’s how Raoul is. But Ramin as Raoul. Oh my lord. At one point in the video, during Wandering Child, where there’s the three of them singing, Ramin’s voice actually overpowers JOJ. And I mean this in no way offending to Mr Jones, who is a lovely Phantom as well.
So apparently, I love Ramin Karimloo in any role that he plays. Whether it’s the Phantom or the fop, his voice is just too beautiful to be ignored and not admired.
Okay, I think my Ramin-rant’s done now!
